Liz
Hi! My name is Lizarardo Quintus Lacerta, but you can call me Liz. I'm twelve years old and I live in Terrene with my family and my friends. I'm in the 6th grade at Reptarium Middle School. School is okay, but I'd rather be out having adventures with my friends, or playing video games. Most of the time I have lots of fun, except for when I'm getting into trouble. I mean sometimes I get a great idea that doesn't turn out or I decide to try something I shouldn't, or I just do something without thinking, and then I end up in trouble. It's a good thing I have my parents and my friends to help me out and to show me that God's way is the best way.
Lucille
My name is Lucille Monitor and I'm Liz's best friend. I like to study, and to go to church, and to hang out with my friends. I have to admit that sometimes I find myself in some weird predicaments when I am with Liz, like the time he talked me into exploring the bayou with him and a snake almost swallowed us! Well, anyway, I like to think that our friendship is one where Liz makes my life interesting and I try to help him stay out of trouble.
Morrie
Oh, hi. My name is Morrie Clumptoes. My family and Liz's family have been friends for years. I'm in the same grade as Liz and the others at Reptarium Middle School. I'm good at schoolwork, but not so good at sports. I really like to hang out with Liz and his friends, but sometimes it seems like they don't want me around. But you know I always say, "you have to be a friend to have a friend", so I always try to be the best friend I can be—even when they aren't good friends to me.
Chamy
Greetings! My name is Chamy Leon and I'm also in the 5th grade with Liz and his friends. Sometimes they really frustrate me though with their talk of the Bible and God. I rely on science and reason to explain everything. Really! If you can't explain something on the basis of science and reason, then why do it? Why believe in it? If only Liz would just listen to me and my superior logic, life would be so much easier for him!
Lacey
Yeah, my name is Lacey. I'm in the same grade as Liz and Lucille, but I wish I was older. I mean, older kids get to wear cool clothes and go out at night and stuff. Hanging around Lucille can be fun. Even though she sometimes seems so immature, she is happy. I wonder if I could be happy like Lucille. What's her secret?
Skink
Hey! My name is Skink and I am a member of the Iguanas, the coolest, toughest, best club at Terrarium Elementary School. I just love to hassle Liz and his friends. They are such show-offs with their good grades and everything. But one thing they'll never be able to do is to join the Iguanas.
Grandpa Anole
Heh, hey, Grandpa Anole here. Well, I've lived in Terrene all my life. Liz and his friends often come to me with their problems. Sometimes I'm a little grumpy but that doesn't seem to keep them away. And I'm glad they come. They keep me young and they give me a chance to tell them about God and Jesus and how much God loves them. I just hope that they listen well to the things I tell them … and if I can help them when they are in a tough spot … well I'm glad to do that too.
Granny Gecko
My name is Granny Gecko. I'm not really a granny, but that's what all the kids call me cause I'm old and I love to make my freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for them. I live next door to Grandpa Anole and when he runs into a problem with the kids or with his tractor, well, I'm here to help him out.
Miss Wattle
My name is Miss Wattle and I'm a teacher at Terrarium Elementary School. Liz and his friends sure make my life interesting—I never know what kind of questions they'll come up with. And when Liz decides to put on one of his dramatic productions for one of his project assignments, well, we never know what is going to happen.
Spike
Spike Racerunner here. I'm a friend of Liz's. Liz and I have a lot of adventures together. I'm a little hot-headed sometimes, and I like to use my fists to solve my problems. I figure if someone bothers you, why not just smack him? That's what my Dad does when he gets angry and it works for him—well, maybe it works—I really don't like it when he gets angry. Anyway, my friends are helping me not to fight so much—which is a good thing when I run into Skink, the class bully.
Scooter
Ah, hi! Scooter here. I'm not really one of the gang, but oh I wish I were. I'm only two years younger than they are but they think I'm much too young for them. You know, sometimes they stick up for me when I get picked on, and that's great. But I really wish I could be as old as they are—then they'd let me hang out with them all the time!
