Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.
Has God ever asked you to do something hard? Have you ever wondered why you should have to work so hard? Then you should meet Noah.
Noah was a nice guy. He had a nice wife. He had three nice sons. Each son had a nice wife. What was so unusual about Noah and his family was that they were about the only nice family left in the world. Everyone else was doing some really nasty things.
God noticed all the bad things people were doing. God was angry-so angry he decided to destroy the world. But not yet. First, God had a important job for Noah and his family.
"Noah. I have a job for you."
"Yes, Lord. I will do anything for you."
"Good. You will build a very large boat. The boat should be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet tall. Make a roof over the boat. Coat the entire boat with pitch."
Now that is one big boat for one little family to build. What did Noah do? He followed every direction God gave him. Noah worked for years and years building this boat. And then what happened? First the animals came. Then the rains came. The water flooded the earth, but Noah and his family were safe. Why? Because Noah worked the hard for God. Noah didn't give up. Noah didn't take the easy way out. Noah didn't even complain about having to build such a big boat.
Do you know what work God is asking you to do? Whatever you are asked to do, work hard. Work cheerfully. Work for the Lord.
