How do you like to use your imagination? Maybe you imagine the characters in a book you’re reading. Perhaps you can imagine a treehouse you want to design. Though your imagination is something only you can see, your imagination can also help you shape your ideas. New inventions, solutions, and creations can all stem from your imagination!

Jesus taught his followers about the kingdom of heaven through parables—imaginative stories that illustrate a big idea. The kingdom of heaven is where Jesus is King, and we can live with God forever and ever. When Jesus described the kingdom of heaven, his friends used their imagination to help them picture it in their minds. It’s a place where those who are humble, merciful, and kind are the most important. It sounds a lot different than our world, but isn’t it better than we could ever imagine? Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is worth giving up everything on earth for because it’s more wonderful than anything. It is like a priceless treasure, the most valuable, beautiful pearl. The kingdom of heaven is the most priceless treasure we can have—and Jesus invites us to be a part of it!

Like Jesus’ friends, use your imagination when you read how Jesus described his kingdom. Imagine how you can obey God and bring the goodness of his kingdom wherever you go. When we imagine how Jesus described the kingdom of heaven, it helps us live more like Jesus now. It allows us to shine the light of Jesus so others will see the goodness of God through our actions!

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for the imagination you have given me. I am so excited that your plans are bigger and better than anything. Please help me to use my imagination to live like Jesus and share your love. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
