Theme: Faithfulness in small things.
1. This verse comes from the parable of the 10 talents. Read this parable in Matthew 25:14-30. Do you ever wonder about what job you'll have when you grow up? Do you ever think about what kind of job God would like you to have?
2. In 1 Kings 18, Elijah was God’s prophet who did his job faithfully. He faced an angry king who blamed Elijah for a drought, a queen who wanted to kill him, 450 prophets of Baal, and a crowd of people who doubted in the God whom Elijah served. Even against all that, Elijah followed God’s commands. He challenged Ahab and all the prophets of that false god. In a crowd of unbelievers and doubters, he prayed to God asking for the people to turn back to God. God was faithful and fire came down from heaven. Later on, rain came down as well, ending the drought. As you listen to this program, think about what God has called you to do and today is calling you to do. “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

In this episode, Liz was careless when he did a job he was asked to do. When we do a job, we should do it faithfully, because we’re not just doing it for our parents, or our teachers, or our boss—we’re doing it for God! God values all kinds of jobs, because there are so many different jobs needed to take care of the world that he created. Take a look at this Biblical job list and see if you can name some people who did these jobs faithfully: shepherd, king, soldier, doctor, priest, tax collector, fishermen and carpenter.
In the parable of the 10 talents, the servants with 10 and 5 talents did their jobs trustworthily. They were obedient in how they used the gifts the master had given them. God values all work. He takes what we do—and how we do it—very seriously. If we grumble or don’t do our work well, God is not pleased. Whatever you do, both now and when you’re an adult, do everything faithfully!

Challenge
Practice faithfulness this week in how you manage one of God's gifts to you: the gift of time. Are you someone who is always late? Do you put off unpleasant tasks until the last minute? Do you often have to hurry through jobs because you don't have enough time? Managing time is one way to show God that you are trustworthy with what he has given you. This week, make a goal to never be late. What will that take? Getting up a little earlier? Planning things out ahead of time? Spending less time on distractions? Starting jobs early? Share your goal with your family, so they can help. They may need to make some changes too.
