Reflect

In this episode, remembering the lessons that Granny Gecko has taught them about God helps Liz and his friends solve the mystery. Learning from wiser Christians is one of the ways that you can rely on God and not on your own understanding.

In the New Testament, a young man named Timothy also learned from wiser Christians. Timothy’s father was not a believer (Acts 16:1-3), but his mother and grandmother taught him about Jesus. At the beginning of his second letter to Timothy, Paul encouraged him, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also” (2 Timothy 1:5). Older Christians have made mistakes and know the temptations you face. They have also experienced God’s love and trustworthiness. They can both warn you and encourage you to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

God told other believers to share lessons with younger ones. Dig deeper into his instructions in Deuteronomy 11:18-19, Psalm 78:5, and Proverbs 22:17-18.

Challenge

In this episode, the best part of Granny Gecko’s birthday is to hear that her lessons had made a difference in the kids’ faith. Who has been an influence on your faith? Make a card or write a letter to thank them for their lessons and example. Be specific about how it has made a difference in your life. It will be the best part of their day to hear from you!
