Memory Verse

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”

Jesus’ followers didn’t understand that he would have to die to fulfill God’s plan for salvation. They felt very sad about his death. They didn’t understand the next part of the plan either: that Jesus would come alive again! Death wasn’t the end of Jesus’ story! It isn’t the end of our story either. Jesus rose again and went to heaven, and he promised that those who believe in him will do the same. That’s wonderful news! The story of Easter marked the grand finale of God’s plan for salvation. It also opened up the next part of his plan, where we help spread the Good News that God made a way for us to live with him forever. Are you sharing the Easter story?

You can read the story of Easter in the Bible in Luke 24. Want to dig deeper and learn more about the importance of Jesus rising again? Check out I Corinthians 15:20-22 and I Thessalonians 4:13-14.

Jesus is alive! That’s why Christians celebrate Easter. Jesus is as alive now as he was on that first Easter morning. You can act out the Easter story yourself with cut-out puppets from Kids Corner. Follow this link to find the activity. Use the puppets to show someone else the Good News about Jesus.
