Before You ListenTheme: Showing Jesus's love.
1. Matthew 28:19 says that we should make disciples everywhere. What is a disciple? Can anybody be one? How do you make one?
2. Romans 16:12 tells the story of two women named Tryphena and Tryphosa who lived in Rome. It’s a short story because we don’t know much about them. In fact, all we know is their names, the city they lived in, and this: “Those women … work hard in the Lord” . We don’t even know what work they did! Perhaps they allowed a church group to meet in their homes. Maybe they made food for the poor and others who couldn’t take care of themselves. They might have made clothing for other Christians in Rome. But they probably told others about Jesus every chance they had. What they did isn’t important. What is important is that they worked hard for the Lord. They did this so well that they got their names mentioned in the Bible! As you listen to this episode, think about what you can do for the Lord where you are.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
A: Write a book, teach a Bible class, preach a sermon, build a house.
In this episode, Liz tries to find a way to serve God, and Lucille learns that being a missionary starts right at home.
Do you know God’s will for your life? It’s not complicated. He’s told you exactly what his will is in the Bible. In 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22, Paul tells the Christians in Thessalonica how he wants them to live. It applies to you too.
1) Honor those who work for the Lord all the time, like your pastor. 2) Get along with other Christians so you can be a good example to those who don’t know Christ. 3) Work hard. 4) Encourage and help those who need it. 5) Be patient with others. 6) Rejoice because of what God’s done for you. 7) Pray and thank him all the time. 8) Read the Bible and listen to what it says. When others tell you things, make sure those things agree with what God’s said. 9) Finally, keep away from evil things.
If you do God’s will in those things, he will be sure to use you to do great things for him.
