Jesus Teaches the People About God’s Kingdom: Audio Bible Stories on Jesus’ Parables

February 7, 2025

Jesus taught the people about the Kingdom of God by telling parables, simple stories that illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. Sometimes, when Jesus told a parable, he would say, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear” (Mark 4:9 NIV). Those who heard and believed not only heard with their physical ears but received grace from God to understand with spiritual ears.

Listen to the parables of “Jesus Talks About God’s Kingdom” right here on our website or on your favorite podcast platform

  • Parable of the Good Samaritan. In this parable, Jesus teaches us that we must do the right thing even when it’s difficult, takes us out of our way, or costs us time or money.
  • Parable of the Lost Son. Jesus told this story to show how God feels about sinners who ask for forgiveness.
  • Parable of the Great Banquet. Jesus told a story of a master who gave a feast and the guests he invited. But one by one, they refused his invitation. That didn’t stop the master; he sent his servants to invite everyone they met.
  • Parable of the Unmerciful Servant. Jesus told his disciples this story about forgiveness. The king chooses to forgive the debt of a servant who owes him a lot of money. But when that same servant meets another person who owes him just a little money, he quickly forgets what the king did for him.
  • Parables About Prayer. Jesus taught two parables about prayer. In Jesus’ parables, God encourages us to give him praise and thanks, along with our concerns, worries, and fears.
  • Parable of the Talents. In this story, Jesus shows that has equipped us with gifts and talents to serve him and others. As his servants, we share his love by helping out our neighbors, friends, and other people in need.
  • Parable of the Sower. Jesus teaches us that listening to God’s Word is not enough. We must do the work to understand Scripture and make it a part of our lives.
  • Parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders. In this parable, Jesus compares the results of two builders, one who builds on firm ground and another on soft sand.
  • Parable of the Workers. Jesus tells of an employer who gives the same pay to workers who start later in the day as those who have been working all day. It’s a story about God’s grace: Someone who believes at the end of their life receives the same grace as someone who has lived their whole life believing and obeying God.
