Take a few minutes to read the Bible verses listed and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in how this verse applies to you this week.
Joshua 1:1-19, 1 Chronicles 28:1-21
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (NIV)
Have you ever been scared about a big math test, or starting a new school, or even about flying in an airplane? It’s okay to be careful. But fear and worry can control our thoughts and actions. They can even stop us from doing the things that we want to do or should do.
Joshua became the new leader of Israel after Moses died. His task was to lead the Israelites into Canaan, the promised land. God promised that he would be with Joshua through all the challenges ahead.
God told Joshua to be strong and courageous. That’s hard to do if you are afraid, but along with that instruction came a promise from God. God said that he would be with Joshua “wherever” he would go. We have that same promise from God. God is with us wherever we go. Think and pray about how you might need God’s presence while facing a challenge.
