Unless Christ was raised to life, your faith is useless, and you are still living in your sins. (CEV)

Have you ever received a gift that literally made you jump up and down? Gwen remembers receiving a ballerina doll when she was nine years old. The doll was almost as tall as she was, and it could twirl on her toes when Gwen held her mechanized tiara. She loved that doll and could hardly wait to tell friends at school about her.

In reading Matthew 27 and 28, we learn how Jesus died for us so we could have eternal life. The most wonderful thing about the resurrection story is the empty tomb. It was empty because death could not hold Jesus. And now we have eternal life through him! This is the unbelievable gift God gave us (better than any action figure or ballerina doll!). Are we excited to tell people about this gift?

One way we tell people about what Jesus did for us is by how we live. For example, do people know you for your kindness? Being kind to others is one way you let people know you follow Christ. Because he loves us, Jesus gave his life for us. As you go into this week, can you be kind to others as a way to show your gratitude for that?

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for the gift of the empty tomb. Help us to show our gratitude for this gift by living a life of kindness towards others. Amen
